When was the first gift ever given? Hint: It was before history was even recorded.
If you weren’t sure, didn't know, or couldn’t guess, gift giving is a fundamental part of human history.
Nomadic tribes in the Paleolithic era gave ‘gifts’ to express respect and friendship and to strengthen alliances between individuals and communities. In short, it was a survival tactic as well as a feel-good neighbourly gesture. Awww.
But what is a gift without a note? Still pretty good! Maybe you forgot the card, maybe the shops closed before you could arrive, maybe you ran out of time.
But we are here to tell you that even the forgetful, the dejected and time-poor can attach a small, heartfelt note to a gift. Indeed, have the note be the gift!
Some examples of what to write? We got you. Let’s take short and sweet literally.
Try these on for size:
You're the best.
So grateful for you.
Yay for you!
You're a really great human.
You deserve all the nice things.
Spend it on something you love!
Just a little something from me to you.
Get whatever you want!
Don’t know about you, but we feel good about these.
Next up, you will need a blank canvas and casing to write and send your miniature missive.

Pop a small, loving note into a book, amongst a bunch of flowers, next to a freshly made chocolate cake, or on the mantle of a lovingly cleaned home (hint - the gift of cleaning is always a good idea).
Since we are now entering the time zone of Mother’s Day, these things might be something to keep in mind…
The Gifting Era Never Ends
Back in the day, and to be specific, we mean “the Renaissance and beyond”, notes accompanying gifts were a sign that literacy was becoming more widespread. Also, people began to express personal thoughts and feelings more as time marched on.
What’s better than meaningful gestures in paper form? We’re not sure, but of course we are biased. xx
