Coloured Pencils are Awesome Because …

They are no mess, no fuss and give you total control.

Chances are you will have had a play around with coloured pencils at some stage of your life.  No matter your age, occupation, or location! Who hasn't tackled a colouring in book with gusto, used the orange and black to make Halloween decorations, and taken almost all the colours for a mandatory rainbow drawing?!

Lyra pencils were launched in Germany in 1868. The brand name was inspired by the musical instrument -a lyre - for a reason only known to the founder, Johann Froescheis. It’s possible that because the lyre was an instrument used by ancient singers and poets, Froescheis thought it was a fitting allegory for a pencil that can also help you bring your creativity to life. (FYI, an allegory is like an extended metaphor with a hidden meaning beneath the surface).

Indeed! Take a peek at the Lyra pencil; we can vouch that they are sharp, bright and wonderfully fun to create with.
