Life Before the Internet. Ask Your Grannie About It.

And Come See Us at Pulp.

We can tell you because we have lived it. We might not be quite as old as your Grannie (yet!), but we do remember a few things about screen-free life. Being unplugged without intention, but just because it didn't exist yet!

Let us give you an idea of what life without screens looks like. It goes a little something like this:

  • In-person connections. Visit friends! Go see movies! Enter the mosh pit! (ie concerts)

  • Talking on the phone? Pick up that rectangular prism and yap! Connect with your mouthparts. Say G’day, Hello, Hola, Bonjour—not with your thumbs.

  • No social media apps in cafes or restaurants. Engage with your food, coffee, and friends. Seriously, that bagel with cream cheese and tea you spill will taste 1000% better. Distractions be gone.

  • Outdoor play. Be like your kid - and if you don’t have one - be like the kid you once were. Tip,  hide-and-seek, hopscotch, stuck-in-the-mud. Bike! Rollerskate! Frisbee! Football! You name it, you can play it (but leave that handheld computer at home).

  • Books, newspapers, and magazines—read, read, and read. Information and entertainment without the blue light—yes, please.

  • Listening to music: Think vinyl records, radio, cassettes. Enjoy your music the way the cool kids do.

  • Walking and gardening. You must know by now that both of these practices are anti-aging strategies and a form of time travel. Yes, you can walk and garden like they did in 1825—or 1925. You choose.

OK, so if you need a place to start, we have a spot for you. Go ahead and take a look at
